1970 Plymouth Superbird by ERTL

The 1970 Plymouth Superbird was one of the wildest muscle cars ever built! Conceived to dominate on the NASCAR circuit and developed in the wind tunnel, the outrageous Superbird was produced for only one year. NASCAR Homolgamation rules stated that at least one production car must be built for each dealer. Plymouth met the minimum by building just 1920 Superbirds. Of the 1920, only 93 Superbirds came with the most famous and feared muscle car engine of all time, the 426 Hemi. The one two punch of advanced aerodynamics backed up by Hemi power was a combination that was a dominant force in NASCAR. Along with it's cousin, the Dodge Daytona, the "Winged Warriors" won over 45% of the NASCAR races they competed in, including the 1970 Daytona 500. In response to their dominance, NASCAR rule changes in 1970 effectively outlawed the superbird. This realistic model features opening doors, hood and trunk. The replica Hemi engine has coolant lines, spark plug wires, and an orange "Hemi" labeled oval air cleaner. Inside you will find bucket seats, a "pistol grip" shifter, seat, dash and door trim, folding seat backs, plated window cranks, seat belt buckles, and door handles. The exterior is finished in gleaming Black Chrome, has a simulated vinyl roof, authentic factory Rallye wheels, and white letter Goodyear tires. Numerous exterior parts are plated, such as mirrors, door handles, hood pins, and bumpers. On each side of the spoiler and on the nose, you will find the famous "Road Runner" caricature. Each chassis is individually numbered, and only 996 were produced. This is a collectible that you will be proud to own!
